What can we help for Eco-friendly product development?

From the product design and development stage of ergonomic office furniture, to the manufacturing process, and the entire flow of the subsequent circulation, we help our customers use more environmentally friendly degradable packaging materials and recyclable product materials, thereby Contribute to our green planet.

What we are happy to see is that more and more manufacturers have begun to realize their social responsibility for environmental protection, instead of staying at the initial stage of pursuing the maximization of profit and production efficiency.

Every one of us, no matter what color, country, or race, has an inescapable responsibility to protect the planet we live on, because we live on the same planet, and the entire human race is an indivisible community with a shared future. This is not only for others, but also for the immediate interests of ourselves and future generations.

In the field of consumer electronics, some Fortune 500 companies, such as Apple and Google, have taken the lead in setting an example for us.

At the same time, we cannot avoid the reality that the awakening process of national environmental awareness in different societies is also limited by the level and stage of economic development of this society.

In the early stages of social and economic development, most businesses and brand owners only introduced the concept of environmental protection into marketing materials and publicity as a gimmick to sell to the middle class and socially advanced people.

Most businesses just pursue immediate short-term benefits, reduce costs, increase productivity, and increase product sales as the orientation.

People need a certain material basis and time to gradually understand the true meaning behind the responsibility of environmental protection.

The challenge of the application of environmentally friendly materials not only exists in the stage of social cognition and product design but also has huge resistance in actual manufacturing.

Even a large company like Google needs to overcome many practical difficulties in the process of product realization.

For example, designers want to incorporate elements of environmentally friendly materials into product design, but product manufacturers do not have the knowledge of environmentally-friendly materials and the procurement channels for environmentally-friendly materials.

For example, the production of recyclable materials requires investment in expensive production equipment and research and development costs, which are not affordable for small-scale material suppliers of non-listed companies.

Even material suppliers with the ability to produce recyclable materials, but on the sales side, high price premiums and very large MOQs have discouraged many small brands.

For example, Apple’s recyclable aluminum suppliers, KAM KIU and FURONG TECHNOLOGY, do not openly sell their materials to the public, and some small manufacturers will be rejected even if they want to purchase at a higher price.

The mechanical properties and manufacturability of some recycled materials are also inferior to brand-new materials, which may lead to an excessively high production scrap rate. This factor also reduces the enthusiasm and motivation of many manufacturers to use recycled materials.

Therefore, the use of environmentally friendly materials in actual production is not as simple as we think. Most of the time, we need a large company with strong financial strength as the promoter, standing at the height of the entire supply chain, to promote the hesitating supply of materials. This means that we must contact the material supplier ourselves, purchase the materials we need, and then send it to the manufacturer of our product, and urge it to use the materials we purchase.

Just like the problem encountered by Google’s designers, even if we purchase recyclable materials ourselves, the acceptance criteria for materials still need to be formulated and supervised by buyers themselves, because there are few available reference experiences, and this practice is slow. Need to move forward in groping step by step.

In some customer projects, we use degradable inner packaging bags made of corn starch, but precisely because of the degradable nature of this material, the packaging bags will decompose by themselves if they are not used within 180 days of production. We have to accept a one-time purchase of 20,000 minimum order quantities before the packaging bag supplier agrees to accept our order. At the same time, our customers only order 4,000 laptop brackets every six months, which poses a big challenge to the communication skills of our procurement team.

At the same time, we need to ensure that the supplier has the corresponding perfect third-party certification, for the company and the product, to prove that they have the ability to produce degradable packaging, and indeed use degradable materials on this product, which is also Need our team to supervise and guarantee the work.

For the use of recyclable materials, we will link the corresponding raw material suppliers and manufacturers according to customer needs, ensure good internal communication during the entire process of product realization, and provide clear cost details.

We still have a long way to go in the application and popularization of environmentally friendly materials in the manufacturing process. Difficulties exist, but this does not prevent us from making small steps and continuous improvement. We hope to cooperate with customers and manufacturing Suppliers and material suppliers to work together to create value for each other while also contributing some meager efforts to the environment in which we live.
