Special Material – Stainless Steel Monitor Arm

With the popularity of the concept of a healthy office and the normalization of the work-from-home mode in the context of COVID-19, the display bracket, as an essential part of ergonomic office furniture, has been recognized and accepted by more and more people. However, the display bracket in the market is also facing increasingly severe problems of product homogeneity. Our team helps customers continuously develop new products with differences, improve the brand image, and simultaneously bring customers higher brand premiums and profits. Recently, we helped a Brazilian office furniture brand to develop a new monitor arm.

Unique customization requirements

After communication with the customer, we confirmed that the customer has the following requirements for this product:

(1) Replace common aluminum alloy materials with stainless steel;

(2) There is no space between VESA plate and poll;

(3) The maximum bearing capacity of the arm reaches 13kg;

(4) The column height is increased from 400mm to 500mm;

(5) The cost is controlled within 15 dollars.

Our existing monitor arm suppliers use aluminum alloy or cold-rolled steel because these two materials are easy to obtain, have good machinability, and have relatively low prices.However, the customer wants to upgrade to stainless steel. Our existing suppliers have no experience in processing, and because they are not commonly used materials, the price and minimum order quantity are relatively high. After communicating with customers, we learned that customers have such a demand because stainless steel can be used to make a mirror appearance through the polishing process. At the same time, it can make products look more textured, reflecting the brand’s high-end positioning.

Meaning of Dolphin Service

After screening and factory inspection, we finally determined two qualified alternative suppliers for customers. Together with the supplier’s engineers, we designed unique connectors to meet the load-bearing requirement of 13kgs. However, since the customer’s purchase volume at the initial stage of the project could not meet the supplier’s minimum order quantity requirements, the product unit price far exceeded the customer’s psychological expectations. After the confirmation of the samples, we directly handed over the contact information of the factory to the customer so that the customer’s project was finally started.

The purpose of Dolphin Service is to make the cross-border trade of customers more accessible and create value for customers sincerely. Although this project did not involve Dewin in the end, we are glad to contribute value to the customer’s brand.
