Lap desks are like the athleisure of workspaces—not the most elegant option but generally comfortable and functional.

At the beginning of this year, we received an inquiry from an Italian client, an office furniture brand, who wanted to make a new design based on our lap desk and modify it as a product of his brand. We custom-made a batch of practical lap desks for him, which are portable and comfortable and provide additional storage options for mobile phones and other supplies.

Custom Details

This client has strict requirements for every detail of the product. To make this product for the client well, we maintain active communication with the client every day and finally sort out some of his needs as follows:

1)Board size should fit 16-inch laptops.

2)The size of the long tray and wrist pad is shown in the figure.

3)Arm and wrist pad will be the following material.

4)Bottom slope is 2 inch

5）Pillow is 1.5 inch

Special Customization

In addition to the above requirements, the client also mentioned explicitly that he wanted to adjust the angle of the mobile phone card slot in the upper right corner. So that the mobile phone has a certain tilt angle when placing the mobile phone so that his face can be completed in the camera when holding a video conference. He also wanted to add storage to the lap table for his glasses.

Our designer opened the mobile phone’s camera and placed it in the card slot on the upper right. After several angle tests, the angle of the card slot was confirmed, so setting the mobile phone at this angle can meet client needs for video conferencing. At the same time, to bring a better user experience to the client, our designers added a charging port under the phone card slot on the premise of good communication with him. The charging port design ensures that he can charge the mobile phone anytime without interrupting the online meeting.

For the storage function of the lap desk, our designer added a small drawer design at the bottom of the lap desk, which can hold a pair of glasses or other office supplies. After showing the design drawings to the client, he expressed his satisfaction.

We completed the order under proactive communication between the two parties. After receiving the sample, the client said that our custom-made lap desk perfectly matched his idea, especially the mobile phone card slot design, and the small drawer made the lap desk practical. There has been a qualitative improvement.
