The COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly transformed consumer behavior in several ways: sparking higher price sensitivity, accelerating online shopping across all categories, and causing shoppers to focus even more on health, wellness, and hygiene. Consumer attitudes about sustainable packaging have also changed significantly. During the pandemic, public awareness that packaging can leak into the environment had increased a good deal.
To respond to these changing consumer sentiments, the whole packaging value chain will have to adjust rapidly.
We were recently contacted by a brand of office furniture that we had worked with who said he needs to customize a batch of his brand laptop stand. To shorten the development cycle, lower production costs and improve efficiency, he wants our company to modify the design based on our existing laptop stand model, and finally make a new model of it.

The client had some customization requirements from both the product and the packaging:

Replace Plastic Packaging With Biodegradable Packaging
According to our understanding of the European and American markets preference models, more than half of US consumers are nonetheless highly concerned about the environmental impact of packaging in general. They are willing to pay more for green, but they would also buy additional sustainably packaged products if more of them were available and they were better labeled.
Our Dolphin Service takes this into account, so when production was entering the packaging stage, our sales contact with this client suggested that the product use biodegradable packaging. The client agreed with our proposal, and after communication, instead of using plastic packaging, we used biodegradable plastic packaging made of corn starch, which will degrade naturally after 180 days.
To ensure that all indicators are up to standard and fully meet the client’s requirements, we sent a quality inspector to the factory to connect with the client and carry out a video inspection to confirm the samples.
After the confirmation of samples, in order to prevent holidays, epidemics and other uncertainties affecting the progress, allow the client to receive mass-produced products on schedule. We dispatched a merchandiser and inspector to the factory in advance to supervise the workers to complete the production.
The complete process of receiving the client’s e-mail to the client receiving the goods only took less than a month.
Soon after, we received an e-mail from the client. He said, “The laptop stand made by your company is very good. And the most important thing is that the biodegradable packaging products produced by your company are very much popular in the market, and the sales rate is much higher than our other products without biodegradable packaging. Your decision has also brought greater profits to our company. “
